I have lived and worked in many different cultures and enjoy working with people from all over the world. I am LGBTQI+ friendly. I encourage my clients to work at their own pace and in the most natural way that suits them.
When possible I facilitate clients to use their body sensations, memories and images in a creative form of self-discovery called Focusing (Gendlin). In my opinion, it is the safest, most effective and enjoyable form of therapy which is very useful for trauma or experiences of being stuck.
Clients I work with are often very surprised at their ability to use their body sensations and images in a session. I am excited to be starting to offer Brainspotting to my clients, this is the work of David Grand which uses points in the visual field to help access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain, I believe I am the only person offering this in Auckland right now, though it is widely used internationally.
Individuals, couples and families
I offer a short, free call for you to ask questions, clarify goals and discuss what might be holding you back. In our first session, we can get to know each other more while beginning our work together. Many people have restricted finance and time and so I offer single sessions, short-term work and weekly, fortnightly or monthly ongoing meetings.
My work combines Person-Centred listening for that which has meaning for the client and neurobiological reprocessing of difficult past and ongoing experience. This way change often happens safely, without willingness and curiosity rather than struggle and effort and in surprising, enlivening ways.
For couples, I use Gottman assessments to help plan the sessions and structure experiences around learning to communicate more openly with your partner as well as more spontaneous therapeutic work which is particular to each couple.while many couples come to therapy for help with specific issues and communication problems traumas and attachment difficulties usually underlying these surface problems. Having a partner witness healing from trauma helps each individuals healing and understanding of the other. When we work with the limbic system and let The body-brain heal the old patterns begin to shift.
I have many years experience of working with people with Nonviolent Communication and use this in all my work to mediate between individuals and between different parts individuals experience inside themselves.
I work with small family groups enabling them to support each other's healing and come together as a family. My work is guided and influenced by Internal Family Systems and Emotion Focused Therapy but always personal to individuals who come to work with me.
I begin working with people with a meeting where we get to know each other, you can tell me what you would like to get from our work together and I can explain more about how I will be supporting you. It’s a time to ask questions and get some clarity on anything which is holding you back.
I offer free 10 minute calls to people unsure if this way of working will be a good fit for them and for any questions about all of the above.

- Registered Provisional Member with NZAC
- Focusing Oriented Therapist and Trainer in Focusing Oriented Therapy, Focuisng Institute, NYC
- Gottman Couples Counselling Level 2 certification.
- Accredited by Brainspotting International
I help people who are stuck and overwhelemed to slow down and pause and understand themselves better, to learn to trust themselves by building a better relationship with themselves. In addition to talking about their problems I encourage and facilitiate clients in working throguh their body's experience of trauma and overwhelm so they can feel more freed-up, confident and engaged in their lives.
Brainspotting and Focusing are ways of working directly with the nervous system, meaning that clients can expect to learn about themseves and experience change at greater depth than simply describing their behaviours and thoughts.
