Because of my deeply lived understanding of anxiety and trauma, I'm passionate about mind-body approaches as a pathway towards awareness, resiliency and healing. Since 2007, I've worked as an Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapist in community mental health, psychiatric units and private practice both in Canada and New Zealand where I developed yoga-based relaxation programs.
My approach is holistic, incorporating the mind, body and spirit.
I provide a safe space for you to find your own inner resources, reconnect with who you truly are and take meaningful steps forwards.
Depending on your unique needs and desires, a range of trauma-informed and holistic models of therapy can inform the process, including occupational therapy, trauma resiliency model, trauma-sensitive yoga and EMDR.
For stress-related insomnia, relaxation training is combined with cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) (see below for more details).

- Bachelor of Kinesiology and Psychology
- Master of Science (Occupational Therapy)
- Registered with OTBNZ
- Certified-International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) (Graduate 2021)
- Currently pursuing the Advanced Clinical Practice certificate (Masters equivalent) to register as a psychotherapist through the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (NZAP)
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Graduate
- Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) (Trauma Resource Institute)
- Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-i)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Level 1
- Yoga Psychology, Yoga Therapy in Pain Care, Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)
Adult Sleep Consulting - Insomnia
When you seek support for insomnia we will address the underlying causes of insomnia by combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and relaxation training informed by yoga therapy.
Depending on your individual needs, the following skills and practices may be part of your unique sleep plan:
Learning to read your nervous system for sensations of alertness and sensations of calm.
Identifying a personal resource that brings sensations of peace or calm.
Relaxation training informed by yoga therapy including gentle breath and movement, soft sound, body scan, grounding and guided visualization in order to strengthen your ability to soothe your system. Practices are trauma-informed and customized to your abilities and needs.
Lifestyle / ayurvedic practices, habits and behaviours to support sleep.
Occupational balance and daytime activities to promote sleep.
Self-talk or cognitive strategies.
Sleep scheduling techniques.
Addressing environmental factors to promote rest.
Yoga nidra with nightmare re-scripting (if appropriate).
Addressing sleep positioning and pain (if appropriate).
The above practices will be accompanied with handouts, sleep diaries, self talk diaries and at home audio or video recordings to support your practice and integration as suitable for you. We will not be addressing sleep medication which is best managed together with your prescribing physician.
I offer a collaborative approach where we work together to develop a program that best supports your needs and whole self.
