My name is Jo.
I have a degree in Counselling and I am a registered member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC).
I provide counselling that is confidential and respectful, offering a space where clients are free to talk openly about what is troubling them.
I consider it a privilege to work with individuals wanting to address the challenges they are facing. I work with those wanting to understand themselves better or are seeking to change patterns of thinking that may be identified as unhelpful. I promote self-efficacy, self awareness as well as giving support to couples and individuals in establishing and maintaining healthy interactions with others.

What ever the reason for your anxiety, panic or fear, if it is getting in the way of living the life you want, then it is time to address it.
Couples counselling
Relationships can be tough yet creating a place of trust can help you both establish and maintain a healthy relationship giving you purpose, significance and a safe place to be you. As an experienced counsellor I draw on the latest research and Imago Relationship Theory. I have knowledge and empathy whilst giving you the tools to help you to better your relationship.
I can show you a new way of communicating so that you can be heard and understood. You can also learn to understand your partner’s perspective without your own wants and needs being minimised.

Depression
Depression can be so debilitating. This is often referred to as the Black Dog or Black Hole. If life is a struggle for you then finding help is important.
Grief & Loss
If you are finding it really hard escape the pain of your grief, come and talk to me. Grief is a process yet with support you will find your way.
Low Self-Esteem
Do you put others first and when you don’t put them first, do you feel guilty?
Do you want to be able to say what you want and need? Do you struggle to even know what you want and need? Come and see me and I can give you tools that will support you to set healthy boundaries.
Postnatal/Perinatal Depression (PND)
PND affects about 13% of mums, so be assured that you are not alone. You may see this as a big black hole or void with no way out. The good news is with the right support and tools you will find your way.

Fees
- $90/ 1 hour session for individuals
- $135/ 75-90 min session for Couples
For those on a low income or benefit there may be funding available through WINZ, supporting part payment for your sessions
