Counselling Wairoa

I'm currently unavailable.
Please contact another counsellor on this website.

My name is Kerry. I am a counsellor, a wife, mother and grandmother who enjoys people from all walks of life, ethnicities and cultures.

I believe all people will experience painful times and know real despair but often healing begins from sharing honestly with another person.

I offer you the opportunity to talk freely about what is going on for you; in a safe, respectful and non judgemental space. While I have a special interest in children and youth; gender identity and relationships I enjoy meeting and walking alongside anyone who needs support for a while.

My background

My background is with people as I have owned and managed a business; I was a primary teacher for years; services coordinator for High and Complex Needs; School Chaplain (primary) and workplace Chaplain (youth 15-18); Tutor on a youth employment skills programme; and a Victim Support Volunteer.

I had four years with Cornerstone Christian Counselling, two years with Pregnancy Counselling and a small amount of family court counselling prior to gaining my degree. I have counselled the elderly through Age Concern, students at both secondary and Primary school as well as adults with a range of issues.

During and since completing my degree I have done several workshops, trainings and courses.

Therapy and counselling

I use a combination of Narrative Therapy and CBT depending on the presenting issue and use play when working with children and youth, including sand tray.

Issues I have worked with have been as varied as the ages, ethnicities and cultures of those who sought counsel.

They have included domestic and sexual violence, anxiety, loneliness, anger, gender identity, addictions, relationships, worry, fear, abuse, trauma, conflict, suicidal thoughts, jealousy, behavioural issues, divorce/separation, family problems including parenting, depression, grief and loss.

You're also welcome for relationship counselling, family dispute resolution and mediation.

Please feel free to contact me to have a chat.
