Rachel | Registered Social Worker, BA Psychology
Introduction
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I am a Registered Social Worker, who began counselling/therapy in 2021, after further study. I support children, teens, adults, families and couples in a safe, confidential, empathetic, non-judgmental and calm space.
I am a firm believer that people are the experts in their own lives, and I work in a collaborative way to develop strategies that will meet every individual’s unique support needs, whether that takes a structured approach using counselling models and interventions, or providing an understanding ear for people to vent without being judged.
About Me
I am from Christchurch, but relocated to Australia with my husband in 2008, for what was planned to be a few years. The earthquakes resulted in us being there for a much longer time, and we came home in 2023, with the added addition of a daughter.
In Australia I gained valuable experience in the disability field, and developed a love for supporting people of all ages with neurodiversity.
After further study in Psychology, my pathway towards counselling began as a Counsellor for teens at risk of homelessness. I went on to become a Children’s Counsellor, and supported children and families, which I loved. When I came home, I had the opportunity to open my own practice. It has been a long journey to finally do what I love to do, but I value the life experiences I have had along the way.
