Introduction

Welcome

Reaching out for support can feel like one of the hardest steps to take. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, carrying the impact of trauma, navigating grief, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, you don't have to face it alone.

I provide a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed space where you can feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. My goal is to help you make sense of what you're experiencing, understand how your mind and body respond to stress, and develop practical skills that support lasting emotional wellbeing.

I work with adolescents (16+) and adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, life transitions, and grief. I have a particular interest in supporting survivors of sexual harm through ACC Sensitive Claims and people bereaved by suicide through the Aoake te Rā service.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work together to understand the underlying patterns that keep you feeling stuck. Therapy may include developing emotional regulation skills, exploring the effects of past experiences, building self-compassion, strengthening healthy boundaries, and reconnecting with your values and strengths.

I draw on evidence-informed approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centred counselling, strengths-based practice, and neuroscience-informed understanding of the brain and nervous system.

I believe that healing happens when we feel safe enough to explore our experiences at a pace that feels right for us.

My aim is not simply to help you cope, but to support meaningful and sustainable change. Together we can build greater confidence, resilience, emotional awareness, and healthier ways of responding to life's challenges so that you can move forward with greater clarity and hope.

No matter where you are in your journey, you are welcome here.

Online therapy

Online Counselling

Online counselling offers a flexible and effective way to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home or another confidential location. Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face counselling for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, and relationship challenges.

Sessions are conducted securely using Google Meet, a simple video platform that works on computers, tablets, and smartphones. Before your appointment, you'll receive a private meeting link via email. Simply click the link a few minutes before your session—there's no need to download software if you're using a compatible web browser, although the Google Meet app is available for mobile devices if preferred.

To get the most from your session, choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable and won't be interrupted. Using headphones can improve sound quality and help maintain your privacy. A reliable internet connection, camera, and microphone are all you'll need.

Online counselling provides the same supportive, confidential, and collaborative therapeutic experience as in-person sessions while offering greater convenience, reducing travel time, and making it easier to access support wherever you are in New Zealand.

If you're new to online therapy or have any questions about using Google Meet, I'm happy to help you get set up before your first session.

Specialisations and Expertises

My practice specialises in trauma-informed counselling for adolescents and adults experiencing the impacts of trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, grief and loss, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

I have a particular interest and experience in supporting survivors of sexual harm through ACC Sensitive Claims, as well as individuals and whānau bereaved by suicide through the Aoake te Rā service.

Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them.

Together, we explore how past experiences, current stressors, and nervous system responses influence thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. Therapy focuses on building emotional regulation, self-awareness, self-compassion, healthy boundaries, and practical coping strategies while working towards meaningful and lasting change.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, evidence-informed, and tailored to each person's unique needs. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centred counselling, strengths-based practice, and neuroscience-informed approaches to help clients better understand themselves and move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

The number of sessions varies depending on each individual's goals, circumstances, and the complexity of the issues being addressed. Some people find that 6–10 sessions are sufficient for developing practical strategies and working through a specific concern.

Others, particularly those recovering from complex or long-standing trauma, may benefit from longer-term therapy to support deeper healing and sustained change. We regularly review progress together to ensure therapy remains aligned with your goals and needs.

Most common issues I support people with:

1. Trauma & PTSD

Many people continue to feel the effects of difficult or traumatic experiences long after the event has passed. Trauma can affect how you think, feel, relate to others, and experience safety in the world. You may notice anxiety, emotional overwhelm, nightmares, flashbacks, difficulty trusting others, or feeling constantly on edge.

Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to understand how trauma has impacted your nervous system and daily life. Together, we work at a pace that feels manageable, helping you develop emotional regulation skills, process traumatic experiences when you're ready, and rebuild a sense of safety, confidence, and control.

2. Anxiety & Stress

Anxiety can show up as constant worrying, racing thoughts, panic attacks, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities. It can leave you feeling exhausted and stuck in cycles of overthinking or avoidance.

Counselling can help you understand why anxiety occurs, how it affects your brain and body, and learn practical strategies to calm your nervous system. Together, we'll work on building resilience, reducing anxiety's impact, and helping you feel more present and confident in daily life.

3. Emotional Regulation

Many people haven't been taught how to understand or manage their emotions. You may experience intense emotions that feel difficult to control, shut down emotionally, or react in ways that don't reflect who you want to be.

Therapy helps you recognise emotional patterns, understand what your emotions are communicating, and develop practical skills to respond rather than react. You'll learn techniques to regulate your nervous system, tolerate distress, and feel more balanced in everyday situations.

4. Grief & Loss

Grief is a deeply personal experience that can follow the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, loss of health, identity, or significant life changes. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and everyone's journey is different.

I offer a compassionate space to process your loss without judgement or pressure. Together, we can explore your emotions, honour your experience, and support you in adjusting to life while maintaining meaningful connections to what matters most. I also provide support through the Aoake te Rā service for individuals and whānau bereaved by suicide.

5. Self-Esteem, Boundaries & Relationships

Our relationships with ourselves often influence every other relationship in our lives. You may struggle with people-pleasing, difficulty saying no, self-criticism, unhealthy relationship patterns, or feeling like you're never "good enough."

Counselling can help you build self-awareness, develop self-compassion, strengthen healthy boundaries, and communicate your needs with confidence. Together, we'll explore the beliefs and experiences that have shaped your relationships and support you in creating healthier, more fulfilling connections with yourself and others.
