Hadiyyeh | Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Introduction

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.  The overall aim of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is to effect change in emotions and/or behaviours through shifts in thinking and to develop skills for more effective functioning. Some conditions that benefit from counselling are Trauma, Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Difficult Relationships, etc.

My role is to guide your way through the change, using your existing strengths and by learning useful strategies and tools to achieve your goals. I also describe my practise as holistic as I have both a Masters in Nutrition and a Masters in Counselling and aim to meet clients' physical, mental, social and spiritual needs.  The service is multi-cultural and inter-faith by being sensitive to the ethnic, socio-economic, gender, racial and religious background of clients.

The length of a typical session is approximately 1 hour. Change is a gradual process and the number and frequency of sessions depends on the client and the nature of their concerns.

Online therapy

  • On-line therapy can be just as effective as in-person.
  • I use Google Meets and use the same link for each session.
  • Email is also used, to send and receive forms and worksheets.

Specialisations and Expertises

CBT can be used for a wide variety of issues and I like to keep my counselling practise general and not restricted to any number of specific issues.

The length of a typical session is approximately 1 hour. Change is a gradual process and the number and frequency of sessions depends on the client and the nature of their concerns.

I recommend weekly sessions to retain the momentum, provide opportunities to practise skills both in-session and between sessions and to monitor progress.  I find that a minimum of 5 sessions for low-level severity, to a maximum of 30 sessions for highly severe conditions, has been found to be effective.

Progress is measured in many ways:
  • Administering screening questionnaires at the beginning (baseline), and throughout therapy
  • Monitoring of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound) goals
  • Self-report by the client

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Relationships Problems
  • Grief

Fees

Sliding fee of $200 per session.  At the first session we conduct a holistic intake and assessment, including the client's financial circumstances and ability to pay.  Together, we settle on a mutually agreeable fee.
