Jonathan | Counsellor & Supervisor

Introduction

Feeling stuck, anxious, or weighed down by life’s challenges? Struggling in your relationship, at work, or with your sense of purpose? I offer a warm, confidential space to explore what’s going on and help you move towards clarity, connection, and change. Let’s work together to create a better self, better relationships, and a better life.

Reaching out for support can feel daunting, and you're not alone. At my practice, I offer a safe, respectful, and confidential space where you can talk openly and be met with empathy and understanding.

I work with individuals and couples facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship issues, grief, low self-worth, and the impacts of ADHD. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in unhelpful patterns, I’m here to walk alongside you as you explore what’s not working and discover what might help.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs. Drawing from evidence-based models—including person-centred therapy, the Developmental Model for couples, and trauma-informed practice—I aim to support personal growth, emotional clarity, and more meaningful relationships.

You don’t need to have all the answers before reaching out. The first step is simply beginning the conversation. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have and help you decide whether working together feels right for you.

Feel free to contact me via the Send a message - button.

Online therapy

While my preference is for in-person therapy—where the depth of connection can often feel more immediate—I recognise that attending in person isn’t always possible. For clients in rural areas or those facing other barriers to face-to-face sessions, online therapy offers a flexible and effective alternative.

I offer online counselling through Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp, depending on what suits you best. Teams is ideal for scheduled, secure video sessions, while WhatsApp can be a more convenient option for shorter or more informal check-ins.

Regardless of the platform, it’s important that you’re in a quiet, confidential space where you feel safe and won’t be disturbed. This helps protect your privacy and allows you to engage fully in the therapeutic process.

If you're unsure about online therapy, I’m happy to talk through how it works and help you decide whether it’s the right fit for you.

Specialisations and Expertises

Anxiety & Depression
I support clients struggling with persistent worry, low mood, panic attacks, overwhelm, and emotional numbness. Together we explore the underlying causes, unhelpful thinking patterns, and coping behaviours that may be keeping you stuck. While some clients feel relief after a few sessions, deeper change often unfolds over 8–20 sessions, depending on your goals and the complexity of your experience.

Relationship Therapy
I work with couples facing communication breakdowns, loss of intimacy, conflict, betrayal, and feelings of disconnection. My approach is grounded in the Developmental Model, which focuses on fostering emotional safety, differentiation, and mutual growth. Couples often notice shifts within 4–6 sessions, though sustained change generally takes 12–20 sessions or more, especially when patterns are long-standing.

Trauma & Abuse Recovery
Clients come to me with experiences of childhood trauma, emotional neglect, sexual abuse, and other deeply distressing events. We work slowly and safely, building trust, emotional regulation, and self-understanding. Healing from trauma is not linear; while some progress is made in the short term, long-term work (20+ sessions) cna be needed to integrate painful experiences and restore a sense of safety and self-worth.

ADHD Therapy & Coaching
I support adults with ADHD—diagnosed or undiagnosed—who struggle with focus, motivation, emotional regulation, time management, and self-esteem. I offer psychoeducation, practical strategies, and emotional support tailored to your specific challenges. Many clients benefit from 8–12 sessions, with some choosing to continue longer-term coaching or therapy depending on their goals.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety & Depression
Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by constant worry, racing thoughts, or a sense of dread that won’t go away. Others describe persistent low mood, lack of motivation, emotional numbness, or difficulty finding joy in life. Common issues include panic attacks, social anxiety, intrusive thoughts, sleep disturbances, and self-criticism. Therapy often focuses on helping clients understand the roots of their distress, manage symptoms, and build healthier patterns of thinking and responding.

Relationship Therapy
Clients often seek help when communication has broken down, emotional closeness has faded, or recurring conflicts leave them feeling stuck. Some are navigating betrayals or trust issues, while others are managing life transitions—like parenting, career changes, or ageing—that affect their connection. A common theme is feeling unheard, unappreciated, or alone within the relationship. I support couples to rebuild trust, express themselves more clearly, and create a more connected and fulfilling partnership.

Trauma & Abuse Recovery
Clients may present with symptoms such as hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, dissociation, low self-worth, or difficulties with trust and intimacy. Some have a history of childhood neglect or abuse, while others have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, or traumatic loss. Often, these experiences continue to affect current relationships, self-image, and emotional regulation. Therapy focuses on creating safety, building resilience, and slowly integrating difficult experiences to support healing.

ADHD Therapy & Coaching
Many clients with ADHD report difficulties with focus, organisation, emotional overwhelm, and self-doubt. They may struggle to start or complete tasks, manage time effectively, or maintain consistency in work, study, or relationships. Often they carry a sense of failure or frustration from years of being misunderstood. Whether diagnosed or exploring the possibility, therapy supports understanding how ADHD affects their lives, building strategies that work for them, and improving self-acceptance.

Stress & Anger Management
Clients often come to therapy feeling constantly tense, exhausted, or on edge. Some experience burnout, difficulty setting boundaries, or feel unable to switch off or relax. Others are quick to anger or feel trapped in cycles of reactive behaviour, often followed by guilt or regret. Common triggers include work pressure, family conflict, unresolved trauma, or unmet emotional needs. Therapy helps identify sources of stress, explore the emotional roots of anger, and develop more constructive ways to respond.
