Introduction

Welcome.

Hi I'm David. I am a counsellor and Trauma Therapist. I am currently offering online sessions and house-calls (Hauraki region), I also have a space I work from in Waihi central available Mondays & Fridays. I offer a range of techniques and approaches to support individuals, couples and families with a variety of presenting issues, some of which are listed below.

I began my journey into therapeutic work in 2010 when I decided I wanted to connect with people, and myself, on a deeper level. I initially gained a bachelor's degree in counseling and furthered my studies into Sociology. In more recent years I have upskilled to better support the uniquness of each client and their circumstances; training in other approaches, including; sound therapy, breathwork, trauma and somatic approaches. As well as a deep dive into the Internal Family Systems Therapy model.

I have worked as a counselor in schools, as a mental health worker and a therapist in private practice. I have worked with clients both face-to-face and phone /online, ranging from 6 years old to 76.

I live in rural Waikato, New Zealand. I enjoy the beach and love music, reading, and writing.

I have four children ranging from toddler to teen and have been married over 20 years

My approach to therapy is to help highlight, and explore the many aspects of our lives: the stories of our early and present lives, our relationships, hardships, challenges and how we make sense of, and navigate the world. I believe as we explore these aspects with curiosity, compassion, understanding and challenge we can access the possibitly of change. I offer a non-pathologizing, collaborative approach, working at the client(s) pace, while being attentive to cultural and personal differences.

My goal is to make you feel that all the parts of who you are, are welcome.
